Welcome to the Wairarapa Amateur Radio Club's website. We are one of 89 branches of the NZART, the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters, Inc., and are among millions of amateur radio operaters world-wide. Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) is a popular hobby and service in which licensed Amateur Radio operators (hams) operate communications equipment. We use designated radio frequency spectra for purposes of private recreation, non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, and emergency communication. The number of hams world-wide is increasing, drawing people from all walks of life and ages. Many of us enthusiastically say that amateur radio is the best hobby in the world, and this is due to a variety of reasons including a love of technology, experimentation, propagation, social, emergency communication, new advanced digital modes and morse code. We hope that you find something useful and of interest on our website
and we invite you to make contact and to visit us in person.
